iphone 3GS - sound out and video out ...

Having read numerous posts on this site, it appears this is a fairly common problem but nevertheless, I will post my story in the hope that someone out there can help.

I have just purchased a brand new iphone 3GS (32Gb) which is unlocked, jailbroken and running OS 3.01. The iphone itself works like a dream. The problems started this week when I invested in the Apple AV composite cable and the Apple Universal Dock.

Basically, with the iphone docked and with the AV cable plugged in the back of the dock the following occurred:

1. The iphone would play around 10 seconds of music and stop. If I pressed the play button on the iphone screen, I would get another 10 seconds of music then it would stop again etc etc etc.

2. If I removed the AV cable and just used a simple headphone connection in the back of the dock, music plays just fine without interruption.

3. If I attempt to play video from the iphone with the AV cable connected to the back of the dock, all I hear is sound. No video at all.

4. If I plug the AV cable directly into the connector on the iphone without using the dock, nothing happens. No sound, no video, no music. Nothing.

I took the cable and the dock back to the Apple store and got it replaced with a brand new cable and dock. Exactly the same thing happens with the new equipment which means it must be a problem on the iphone itself.

Interestingly enough, when I was in the Apple shop I connected my iphone to three of their docks. Two Logic3 docks and a Bowers
