I bought Apple's Component AV Cable for the iPhone, and connected it to the appropriate inputs on my Sony flat panel LCD TV -- inputs that are known to work properly. When I rented a movie from the iTunes store and played it from the iPhone through the TV, the motion exhibited a slight "hang," or stutter, every 8-10 seconds. The phone was in Airplane Mode, with WiFi turned off and Wide Screen mode enabled. (The movie was wide screen.) To rule out memory fragmentation, I shut down and rebooted the phone, and tried again. Same deal.
The movie appears to play smoothly on the phone's LCD screen. But since Apple allowed me to rent the movie directly from the phone (via Wi-Fi), and sold me the Component AV Cable, I would expect that the movie would play back smoothly on my TV as well.
This is a brand new iPhone 3GS, the fastest iPhone there is. Any suggestions would be most welcome.
